About

Built on a long rocky spur, the fortified town of Loches is dominated by an imposing keep, a masterpiece of medieval military architecture. From the lower town to the fortress, the winding streets are lined with architectural gems, including the Saint-Ours collegiate church, a Romanesque splendor with pyramids (known as “dubes”), and the late medieval royal residence, which is an important landmark in French history, having welcomed Joan of Arc, Agnès Sorel, and Anne of Brittany.
